XS-EnterpriseSCHEDULE version 7 gives you all the advantages you previously enjoyed, including multi-platform integration, remote web-based monitoring, event-driven scheduling and reliable ‘lights-out’ processing. But there are also a number of significant enhancements that will ensure ease of use combined with advanced and complex functionality.
Support for AIX - XS-EnterpriseSCHEDULE now supports AIX architecture running on the PowerPC. All features available on other platforms are included.
Workgroups – Version 7 allows a group of nodes, even on different platforms, to cooperate within scheduling workgroups. Workgroup jobs will be automatically allocated to servers in the workgroup in a number of configurable ways – least busy node (load balancing), round-robin or first available node. The benefit to you will be efficient and centralised use of your servers for automated batch procedures and the optimum use of your resources.
Replication – Data can be replicated across the workgroup members; this data could be either the entire scheduling database or specific scheduling job folders. If batch jobs are automatically spread across a replicated workgroup in this way, then members can be added or removed without affecting the scheduling or requiring time consuming reconfiguration. This ensures maximum fault tolerance – if a node fails, other nodes can take over automatically with distributed replicated data without loss or delay of jobs. This powerful function is especially applicable for unattended ‘lights out’ operations.
Prototype jobs – Job attributes and commands can be pre-defined for an entire job group so that changes to the prototypes will be automatically applied to all jobs in the group when they run. This will save you time, money and will avoid errors as job requirements evolve over time
Dialog customisation – Users will be prompted for specific information at the job submission stage, with applicable customised prompts for specific required information only– e.g. a department code as input for the job. This will ensure that job submission is easier, resulting in fewer mistakes and improved control.
